About NSS

About National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. It aims to develop the personality of students through community service and social responsibility.

In Kerala, NSS activities in engineering colleges operate under the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU).

The motto of NSS — "Not Me, But You" — reflects the spirit of democratic living and selfless service to society.

NSS GEC Wayanad (Units 168 & 263)

Government Engineering College Wayanad hosts two NSS units: Unit 168 and Unit 263. These units consist of passionate volunteers who actively engage in social service, environmental protection, health awareness programs, and community development initiatives.

Our volunteers participate in activities such as blood donation drives, educational outreach, disaster relief work, environmental campaigns, and community engagement programs.

Through these initiatives, NSS GECW aims to develop responsible citizens and socially conscious engineers.

Flagship Programs

RUDHIRASENA

Rudhirasena is our dedicated blood donation initiative. Volunteers maintain a blood donor database, organize donation camps, and respond to emergency blood requirements in the region.

KTU CARE

KTU CARE focuses on supporting underprivileged communities through educational assistance, housing support initiatives, and community service activities.

NRPF (National Resource Protection Force)

NRPF promotes environmental protection through tree plantation drives, cleaning campaigns, and awareness programs for sustainable living.

ROAD & SAFETY

This program focuses on road safety awareness and traffic assistance during public events and community gatherings.

ENERGY CELL

The Energy Cell promotes energy conservation and sustainable practices including renewable energy awareness and green campus initiatives.

MEDIA

The Media team documents NSS activities through photography, videography, and social media communication.
